Almost into March of 2010 now, the festival tent search has clearly begun with people looking for all in one festival kits. These all in one festival kits are a lifesaver and actually come very well priced. You can buy festival kits in various options such as one man or up to four person. They generally work out to be cheaper than buying a camping kit on a one by one basis and include the basics and more of what you need. For example Tentastic have just released their latest camping kit range and are selling out of these ktis as fast as they get them in!
Typically they will include sleeping bag (s), sleeping mattress (making the ground somewhat comfier to sleep on), cooler bags for food and drinks, lights, and of course a tent itself. These festival survival kits are great for the novice camper and the seasoned camper alike. I’ll shortly be adding a festival kit page to the site so you can compare all of the online camping retailers offers at once to find the right equipment for your camping needs this year. Some will be more budget camping orientated whereas others will be more luxury for those who like to camp in style.

Advice on choosing a location. Make sure you have enough free hands to carry your pop up tent, most will sit on your back like a little rucksack. Also make sure you bring everything you need with you. Write a checklist down and then tick it off (preferably with another person before you leave for your camping. Once the car is parked securely, take everything an venture off to the allowed camping areas.
Find a space that is flat, not below a tree, a good distance away from other campers. Also reserve pop up tent space for more of your campers if they are arriving at a later time. It’s an idea to be in line to something easy to spot. Don’t set up on a ledge, you will probably fall down it after a few beers. Also make sure the toilets aren’t miles away or be within distance of some nice bushes (hope you have toilet roll). The instructions in the tent are really easy to understand. Once you have decided that this location will be a good one, no obvious dangers like hanging branches around then simply pop up and go! Finally make sure the tent is stable and that everything fits together, nothing seems odd about it. Other tenters will be most jeleous when they see how quickly you get started! Crack open a beer, sit down and relax, you have done well. Next go investigate the camping ground to see if there are showering facilietes, places to eat etc.

What’s so good about pop up tents?
Holy Mother of God! I went to my first camping event last year with some massive tent. Luckily my friend had ex-girl guides there too (randomly bumping into). I swear it took an hour and a half putting up the conventional monster tent. I saw many people around me -simply pop up and go. These were in fact Gelert Quickpitch pop up tents. The next tent camping event I went to I simply took my new, pop up Gelert tent and rocked on within seconds. In fact, it took me 2 minutes from opening my tent to me cracking open my first beer. They come in a backpack which is lightweight and also easy to carry and pack back into. Marvellous!
Choosing a pop up tent:
Simply decide how many people you want your Gelert tent to fit, they start with two man tents and go up. It depends on how much room you want really. Once you have decided the tent you want you’ll also need some extras which I’ve detailed in my checklist below:
Checklist for camping:
* Camping Chairs – much more comy than sitting on the ground, great for supping beer on
* Poncho – best to have one of these in supply due to the unstable nature of our weather
* Sleeping Bag – unless you want to freeze to death, decide how frequently you’ll be using one as to how much you want to spend. Decide between a one man or consider a double sleep bag if you have someone to snuggle up to at night/ day.
* Solar Shower – in case your campsite doesn’t have bathing equipment, you’ll fancy a shower.
* Torch – really necessary, remember to bring one with you.
* 2 man pop up tent, 3 man pop up tent, 4 man pop up tent, 6 man pop up tent ?
* Food, beer and finally a festival ticket. You may be able to get some of these with some discount codes.
